Finally, thoughts have turned to planning our wedding day. This is something new for the both of us and with the endless options available, knowing where to start is a challenge and somewhat overwhelming. This is why we chose to visit the recent Wedding Fair at London’s ExCeL.
Not only was it a chance for Trevor and I to gather ideas and advice, but also, to meet with wedding service providers.
The fair was packed full of exhibitors, covering all the services across the wedding industry. Each offering something different and unique which meant there was plenty of inspiration to be gained.
The internet and wedding magazines are all very good for finding wedding providers and ideas, but personally, I prefer to see and try things for myself and enjoyed meeting the exhibitors face-to-face.
Throughout the day, Trevor and I, was able to choose our preferred style of wedding bands, ruled out wedding dress styles and found the cake of our dreams. We also discussed wedding themes and colour schemes and even drank Prosecco.
There were also catwalk shows at various times in the day, showcasing bridal wear, groom wear and bridesmaid dresses. They were hugely popular.
Now, I’m not one who takes kindly to a heavy sales pitch and as a result, had to give some ‘traders’ a wide berth. There really is nothing worse.
Thankfully, some vendors were the total opposite and allowed us to browse and explore without any hassle.
Let me share some of our favourite’s with you…
We met with a very talented wedding photographer who we both fell in love with. Alfred of Valo Studio oozed creativeness and a huge sense of fun, just the type of person you want capturing your special moments on the big day.
His examples spoke for themselves, he was nothing short of a creative genius. We have since read the testimonials on his website and it seems that others do agree.
We went on to meet a jeweller who designs and manufactures bespoke pieces of jewellery from his workshop in London. The rings on display were beautiful and the stand had gathered plenty of interest.
Expensive? You would think so but we was pleasantly surprised. The rings are available more cheaply than those in retail stores as there is no middle man to bump up the costs.
The jeweller took one look at my hand and was able to tell me which band width and type of ring to consider. So, I tried on a plain band as recommended and it looked perfect against my engagement ring.
Trevor was also able to try on some rings and within 5 minutes of visiting the stand, we had decided on the style of rings we would like. We look forward to visiting Hyde Park Design at their workshop.
Did someone say cake? If you want to try endless cake and for free, then visit a wedding fair.
We tried a few different sponge options at different stands and agreed on a clear favourite. The Winter Spiced sponge by Love Rosie Cakes was the best by far.
Luckily, they supply to our area and their prices are reasonable too.
Prosecco anyone? Chin chin, I am in!
We R Fizz serves flash-cooled Frizzante (Prosecco to you and me) and Peroni Nastro Azzuro Lager on tap. The 3-wheeled van / bar is small enough to fit into most event spaces, both indoor and out making it perfect for garden parties and weddings, as well as festivals, shows and corporate events. Need I say more?
SPJ Event Specialists is a leading supplier of entertainment, event equipment and services to the South East. They offer a variety of packages or a fully bespoke service to suit your perfect wedding day requirements.
Having someone organise your wedding day from start to finish sounds like a dream come true doesn’t it? Where do I sign?
The staff at the stand were brilliant and full of great ideas. We’ve since visited their website and they have a lot of happy customers.
It was really nice to soak up the atmosphere of the fair among the other excited couples, and we both agree that suddenly, our wedding seems very real.
