Review: smarTrike T1 Scooter

Christmas has definitely come early for Jack this year thanks to an exciting review opportunity from smarTrike.  The multi-award winning outdoor ride-on brand has officially launched its first range of children’s scooters, and Jack has been sent one to put to the test.

The brand new innovative range of scooters, includes three unique models.  We received the 3-stage T1 Scooter (blue) which is suitable for children from 15 months+.

smarTrike T1 Scooter features:

  • Patented three-stage riding
  • TPR rubber surface footplate
  • EVA Foam seat and soft-touch rubber grip handles
  • T-lock system
  • Easy-reach back foot brake

Stage 1: Seated riding

Thanks to its ingenious height-adjustable seat and telescopic handlebar, Jack can ride along in a easy and safe sitting position.   This will allow him to gain the confidence and ability to move safely on to stage 2.

Stage 2: Upright forward riding

Once we are confident that Jack is ready to progress to this stage, the seat can be removed allowing for a whole new scooting adventure.  Whilst Jack is learning to stand and ride, the T-lock function can be enabled to prevent the handlebars from tilting.

Stage 3: Freestyle riding with limited tilting

When stage 2 has been conquered and Jack is ready, the T-Lock function can be unlocked by the flick of a switch, allowing him to go freestyle.

Our review

Jack was super impressed when we revealed the T1 scooter box to him.  Trevor got to work right away and it took no more than 10-minutes to put the unassembled parts together.  Even I could have managed it.

The scooter is easily adjustable too, and so ideal as Jack grows or progresses onto the next stage of use.

Trevor and I both agree that the scooter certainly looks the part and is made to a very high quality.  It is a sturdy and hard-wearing piece of kit, so perfect for the inevitable mishaps of a two year old.

The foam seat and soft-touch rubber grip handles make for a comfortable ride and accompanied with the foot brake and T-Lock features, a safe one also.

There are two further models available in the range; the T3 Scooter suitable from 2 years+ and the T5 Scooter suitable from 3 years+.

Jack has been enjoying playing with the scooter indoors whilst he works on his balance and technique.  He is gaining confidence on the scooter all the time and has been happily whizzing around the house.

It won’t be long before we can venture outdoors with his new scooter, so we will need to visit our local store to buy Jack his first crash helmet and protective pads.

I am really impressed with this scooter but more importantly, Jack loves it.  He suddenly looks so grown up.

I would have no hesitation in recommending the new smarTrike scooter range to friends.
