For Day-7 of my Kindness Challenge, we’re keeping it close to home and visiting an elderly neighbour. I am super excited about this one and hope that our small gesture will make a big difference.
We live opposite a very kind gentleman who is unfortunately in poor health. He doesn’t seem to have any close family nearby, but I know that he does attend some weekly activities and so gets to connect with people.
During the summer, he posted a leaflet through our door inviting us to his local allotment ‘family day’ event. Sadly, we was away on holiday and didn’t see the invite until we got home. I felt awful, but shall make sure we are available to attend with him next year.
Whilst we always greet each other with a wave and smile and sometimes enjoy a passing chat, I have decided to step it up.
Today, the boys and I, shall be surprising John with a knock at the door and a small treat. We shall also be inviting him for ‘Christmas dinner’ at ours, one evening next week.
Whilst its only a small gesture, I hope that it will bring some neighbourly cheer to John this Christmas.
