The new My First Thomas & Friends Railway Pals range is perfect for little Thomas & Friends fans. Jack and Hudson love anything to do with Thomas and the new Destination Discovery playset has been a huge hit with them both.
The new range from Fisher Price makes for a great first train set and is perfect for imaginative play. Also, encourages development in toddlers through motor skills, thinking skills and academics.
My First Railway Pals Destination Discovery set
The track set and vehicles are chunky and robust, and therefore great for little hands. The colourful track pieces are easily connectable for children, and the various additional features simply click into the track. Children can create their very own track setups using the many different curved, straight and intersection pieces. You can also add to and expand your track by purchasing additional sets and vehicles in the range.
When toddlers roll Percy over the track activation points on this train set, he’ll deliver sounds, songs and phrases that teach letters, numbers, colours and directions. Each of the set’s nine activation points will trigger unique sounds and sayings – from cheerful songs and destination-themed content, to helpful phrases that encourage children to count, find specific colours, and understand a variety of letters.
For even more exciting ways to play, kids can spin the windmill, load and unload cargo, rotate Percy on the turntable, and roll the drum on Tidmouth Sheds to see it light up.
The Railway Pals Destination Discovery set features:
- Railway Pals Percy train with cargo car
- Two cargo pieces
- Nine activation points
- Over 40 track pieces
- Over 50 unique sounds
- Light-up Tidmouth Sheds
- Knapford and McColls’s Farm destinations
- Trackside cargo bin, turntable, and crossing gate
Both Jack (almost 3yrs) and Hudson (18months) absolutely love the set. They were super excited when it first arrived for review and it wasn’t long before all the contents were led across the living room. They quickly worked out how to connect the pieces and went about creating their own track.
I knew that there was only one train in the set, so I purchased the Rosie train before the set arrived to avoid any arguments. The boys each armed with a vehicle, spent a good couple of hours working their way around the track and playing with the interactive areas.
Jack seems to enjoy using the turntable and operating the cargo bin, whilst Hudson is more attracted to the light-up Tidmouth Shed and loves to press the train’s light-up bumper to hear them talk and sing.
The set has already provided hours of fun and I cannot see it getting boring anytime soon. The interactive sounds are fab as Jack loves to repeat them and there have been plenty of shrieks and squeals of excitement from both the boys – ‘Percy crash’, ‘Quick Rosie’, ‘Choo-choooo’.
The new Thomas & Friends playset is suitable from 12 months+ and retails at £49.99. We would absolutely recommend the new range and have already purchased the Mountain Adventure set for Christmas.
