The pregnancy test suggested that I wasn’t but I just knew deep down that I was pregnant again. All the signs and symptoms were there.
We had decided to try for Baby No.2 just a month before falling pregnant this time around. I came off the pill and had my regular period a few days following.
So we all know what happened next but wow, to fall pregnant straight away was quite an achievement we have since decided.
I was just past mid-cycle and had started to feel continuously dehydrated and needed to pee all the time. I was also experiencing period type cramps as I had done in my first pregnancy with Jack. These along and my aching boobs gave me a sneaky suspicion that I was already pregnant.
I took a First Response pregnancy test on the Wednesday morning and it showed negative but I wasn’t convinced. I knew that it was possibly too soon to take the test.
That night, I found myself vacating the kitchen quickly when Trevor was making his sandwiches for work. The smell of pickle made me feel ill.
On the Saturday morning, I woke up to a nose bleed. I had loads of these last time around too and for a good couple of months.
I decided to take another test straight away but this showed negative again. Rather than throw away the test, I left it in the bathroom for 10 minutes to be sure (as the instructions suggested) and returned to bed, for Saturday morning snuggles with Trevor and Jack.
Trevor popped to the loo and returned with a huge smile on his face. Part of me thought he was winding me up and the other had me rushing to the bathroom to see for myself.
AND THERE THEY WERE! Two tiny lines that would change our lives forever.
I returned to the bedroom and jumped back into bed. Trevor and I just smiled at each other and snuggled Jack in close. Little Jack knew nothing of the significance to that cuddle, but for us, it was perfect. Our journey as a family of four had begun.
What were the tell-tale signs for you?
