Captain Jack – 18 months

Jack has made us absolutely proud this last month.  He has formed the most gorgeous and funny little character and is a joy to be around.  Jack now seems huge in comparison to his little brother and I often have to remind myself that he is only 18 months old.

The bonding process with Hudson is coming along nicely, albeit slowly. He no longer gets upset or frustrated around the baby but instead will kiss him, has tried feeding him his milk and is now happy to share a bath with him.

He is becoming very independent and likes to get involved in everything we do.  He is very quick to pick things up with only a little instruction and has been helping me on request with little things around the house, like bringing me a nappy for the baby, helping to tidy away his toys and closing the stair gates behind us.

Jack has been getting noticeably more mischievous this month and has been pushing the boundaries, often checking whether we are looking at him before attempting to be naughty.  Perhaps craving a little bit of extra attention since baby has arrived.

We have been out and about plenty this month with trips to parks, a family fun day at Newbury Racecourse and a local summer fair.  Although, Jack’s favourite has to have been when we went to the Open Fun Day at Newbury Fire Station, he was in his element and had us running all over the place whilst he explored the station and it’s fire trucks.

He has become quite the little dancer now and stole the show at a recent family party with his moves (side-steps) on the dance floor.  His summer anthem is definitely Justin Timberlake’s ‘Cant Stop The Feeling’.  You can check out his moves by clicking here.

He continues to love his reading and so we read a book chosen by Jack every day.  He still loves his Thomas books but I do insist we read other books too.

Jack has some new words this month including ‘fish’, ‘pea’, ‘bus’ and ‘car’.  He now tries to make the noise of a train and a monkey which is quite comical as he hasn’t quite conquered them yet.

I have really enjoyed this month and feel like I have bonded loads more with Jack now that I am without bump.  I’ve been able to chase him about, snuggle up nice and close and just interact with him a whole lot more.  I think he has enjoyed it too.

May the fun times continue into month 19…

Lisa x

What a lovely little update, it’s a great way to see him growing. Love that he’s starting to be a great big brother and give kisses and stuff, that’s very cute. I do remember that little naughty streak around this age when they make sure they have an audience before being a bit cheeky!

He is certainly cheeky alright and it’s usually when I’m tied to the chair feeding Hudson. :). Still, we all did it! I call it karma xx
