Review: Beefeater Downshire Arms, Bracknell

Beefeater recently invited me, along with a friend, to review their newly refurbished Downshire Arms restaurant in Bracknell.

The Beefeater Restaurant…

The restaurant is situated conveniently, just 5 minutes from the M4 motorway and has plenty of parking available.

Downshire Arms Beefeater

With its inviting and relaxed atmosphere, and beautiful country decor, it’s a far cry from how I remember a Beefeater restaurant to be, since my last visit some years ago.

The Downshire Arms is a great family friendly restaurant.  The seating areas are large with plenty of space surrounding the tables and booths, so even during busy times, the restaurant shouldn’t feel overcrowded.

Whilst the revamped decor is tasteful and modern, I love that Beefeater have kept some of their original features.  These fab plates displayed below are those that they served their well renowned steaks on many years ago.

The Beefeater Menu…

The menu was full of modern British classics and had plenty of starters, mains, sides and puddings, to suit everyone from vegetarians to meat eaters.

To start, we chose the Classic Prawn Cocktail and Crispy Flat Cap Mushrooms which were both really tasty!  We was impressed at how quickly the food was served up too.

Steak has always been one of my favourite dishes and whilst I had been looking forward to eating one all day, I had a change of heart and decided to try the Smothered Chicken Melt.  If there is a taste that I would like to be able to bottle up, then it would have to be this.  This dish was handsome!

Paige opted for the Chargrilled Gammon Steak, which was both tender and tasty.  She even let me try a little!  Between us we shared a side order of Crispy Beer-Battered Onion Rings and could have requested more chips if we had wanted to, as Beefeater offer them unlimited.

We shared the Banoffee Pie and Warm Chocolate Brownie options for pudding, it would have been rude not too.  They was washed down with a hot chocolate and espresso to finish.

Our final thoughts…

The staff were both friendly and helpful (without being interruptive) during our dining experience.

Whether you are looking for a yummy breakfast, relaxed lunch or romantic meal for two, this Beefeater is ideal.  With the generous portion sizes, good quality ingredients and reasonable prices, you really cannot go wrong.

We loved it there and have promised to revisit with our families soon.
