Review: Beale Park Wildlife Park and Gardens

Last weekend we visited Beale Park with Jack for what would be a perfect family day out.  We headed off early afternoon as the weather was forecast to brighten up nicely.  Beale Park is located in Lower Basildon, Berkshire just off the M4 Junction 12.  Its just a 20minute drive from us which is great.

Jack slept the whole way and woke up right on cue as we arrived.  With the car unpacked, picnic and camera at the ready, off we went for a day of family fun, much needed it was too.

On entering the park, you are immediately welcomed by the beautiful Jubilee Water Gardens and Pavilion.  We enjoyed a lovely stroll and fed the ducks and rooster much to Jack’s delight.

We continued on into the park to see the many animals, it was great to see Jack’s face as he took it all in.  Up until now, he’d only seen a dog, cat and some ducks.  I was quite surprised at just how quickly the animals caught and kept his attention.

They have over 120 species of bird onsite and so many animals to enjoy such as monkeys, wallabys, deer, goat, pigs etc.  I loved watching the meerkats and squirrel monkeys, I could watch them for hours.  Trevor was super impressed with the turtle and even visited the tarantula.  Needless to say, I waited outside.

There is a train which you can take from one end of the park to the other which the children seemed to love.  It goes right alongside the animal enclosures so you get to see them in all their glory.

There is a toy museum and boat museum which seemed to be popular.  There is also a restaurant onsite and an impressive adventure playground area.  The park also welcomes children’s parties and other private functions.

The grounds are well maintained and there is plenty of seating and toilets available as you walk around the park.  The entry costs are nicely priced, with a family of 4 costing just £29 in the high season and £20 in the low season.  There really is so much to see and do, you couldn’t possibly go wrong with a visit here.

We had a gorgeous day together as a family and it was a great experience for Jack getting to see the animals.  He was one exhausted boy by the time we came to the end of the park and decided to catch some zzzs.  Trevor and I took advantage and took some time to catch up which was lovely and even managed a cuddle and the obligatory dodgy selfie.  Say ‘Cheese’.

We’ll definitely be re-visiting and will probably opt for a season ticket pass as we live so close.

Here is a map of the park, just in case you fancy a visit yourself.  I’d recommend it.  Be sure to visit their website for more information.

Aww your photos are so lovely. Jack is absolutely adorable!!! This sounds like a brilliant family day out and somewhere you can return again and again! I’m glad you and Trevor managed to get some couple time too. It’s surprising how hard it can be to have a cuddle when you have a little one! I must say I would have waited outside of the tarantula part too, other than the spider it sounds like there are loads of non-scary animals to see and visit. What a gorgeous day! Thank you so so much for linking this to #whatevertheweather x

Gorgeous photos, look at how happy Jack is, such a beautiful grin he has! Lovely selfies too. 🙂 the park looks wonderful and so much to do. I love it when there are extra options like the train to see animals from, gives little legs a rest when they’re out all day. It sounds like it’s good value too, I would definitely buy an annual pass as well if I lived so close by, it looks like there will be lots to do there as he grows up too, enjoying that adventure playpark soon! 🙂 x

We are close to Beale park and have been visiting ever since my children were born. We used to have a season ticket and it was well worth the money, the kids loved it there (still do). Lovely photos 🙂
